Crochet Projects: Scarflette & Cowl

Now that I'm finally feeling better, I can write this long-overdue post. In mid-February, I crocheted a scarflette for my Mom's birthday, and made a cowl for my riding instructor. They were both quite happy. I made Mom a matching hat several years ago, so I used the rest of the yarn to make her scarflette. It's Knit One Crochet Too Fleece yarn in the Blueberry Parfait colorway, and I used a size I hook.

Both projects are based on the Plush Chain Links pattern in this book. It's the first pattern I ever crocheted, and still my go-to pattern when I need a mindless scarf with great drape. Mom's scarflette used 1.5 skeins, and the cowl used a single skein. Mom's scarflette was crocheted to the pattern, but I shortened the cowl width by one pattern repeat, then seamed the ends together to form the cowl. The pattern, combined with the super-soft squishy yarn, made for airy, yet warm gifts that mold to your neck's contours.

  1. I love that yarn. I'm going to have to come up with another project to make with it sometime, just so I have an excuse to get some more of it. ;-)
