Work-in-Progress Phriday 4/12/13

I've spent the last couple weeks crocheting furiously on a wedding gift for a co-worker's daughter. I'm making the couple a rug for their kitchen, in neutral colors as they requested. Most of my progress came during our trip to Carolina Fiber Fest last weekend. All that's left to crochet is the side borders.

Work-in-Progress Phriday 3/22/13

I had lots of crochet time this week, so I got a lot done on my cabled socks. I finished the foot and heel of both socks, and I'm ready to begin crocheting the legs.

I've had a lot of time to work on my cabled socks this week, and I made a discovery that has made the pattern easier. I only need to really focus on 1 row of the 4 row repeat, the others are very easy.

Considering that I have been sick all week, with no sick time left so had to work, I'm shocked I managed to crochet at all. I have both toes done on my cable socks, and I'm ready to begin the foot section, which is where the cables begin. Keep your fingers crossed that I finally master cables!

I am halfway through the second cowl I'm working on, but no photo of it this week because it's in the car. I started a pair of cabled socks. I did the gauge swatch and then got one toe just about finished.

Last week, we bought a new-to-us crochet magazine, Love of Crochet, Winter 2012 issue. I couldn't resist the Cozy Cowl by Carrie Carpenter, and I had the right yarn stashed already.  This is my first filet crochet project. I got a couple rows in and realized I'd done things wrong, but as I like my unintended modification, I'm going with it. :-)

I had a lot of time to crochet on Sunday, and some Monday night, so I made huge progress on my Shawlini.

I worked a few more rows on my Motivated Heretic, too. I'm working row 34 now.

My crochet charity group at work met this week, and I'm so proud of my blind students/group members! They've finished 6 baby blankets to be donated to the children's hospital. I'm washing and blocking the blankets this weekend. Many of the blankets are patterns that they came up with on their own. :-)

Work-in-Progress Phriday 1/11/13

WIP Phriday is back, after an unexpected family emergency during the holidays. I'm working on two projects this week.

First up, I'm chugging away on my Motivated Heretic. I just added the 5th skein of yarn in the other day, and I'm at row 32.

My second project is a small shawl. It's a pattern I found online, and I had some trouble with the written instructions, so I've been following the chart instead, and I kind of like it. :-) I'm finished with the first increase section, with several more increase repeats to go.

I made some progress on the Christmas stocking for my nephew this week. I'm ready to begin the toe. After that is finished, I'll crochet the cuff, add his name, and sew everything together. :-)

I've made good progress on my Motivated Heretic these last couple of weeks. I added in the second skein and it's almost time for the third skein now. I love the way the colors are changing.

Sorry for the disappearing act the last several weeks, but we were moving. We're still settling into and unpacking in our new place. Unfortunately, this means I haven't found my current WIPs yet :-( so I started a new project :-). This is a Tunisian entrelac shawl that I'm making for myself. It's interesting because I adore the technique, but using the slightly fuzzy yarn adds a new challenge to the project. For yarn with some halo/fuzz to it, this yarn has amazing stitch definition.

Work-in-Progress Phriday 9/28/12

We've had several roller coaster weeks, which is why I didn't post last week. I have made good progress on my Rose Valley Cardigan, finishing the second panel and finishing the first sleeve. I decided to make the sleeves elbow length, thinking they'll be more like 3/4 length after I block the cardigan, since this particular stitch pattern really opens up with blocking. Note to my blind readers: since Blogger forced the new blog style upon us again, I'll add alt tags once I find them in the new HTML layout. Sorry :-(

Work-in-Progress Phriday 9/7/12

I decided to start a couple new projects this week, as if the two already in progress (the chunky scarf and Infinity Wrap) weren't enough. I finally tackled a ruffle yarn, and it took some getting used to, but I like it so far. I also started a cardigan that I hope to have finished in time for a work event in early October.

Work really cuts into my crocheting time, because on Mondays especially, I'm usually too tired to go to library craft group, although I made it there this week. I'm slogging my way through the Infinity Wrap, but I also started a chunky scarf this week because I know the quick progress will be gratifying. Today's photos are horrid, but with it pouring outside, I found the best artificial light I could inside.
